Chiso Ashtray is a post-modern drama about an innocent village guy freshly arrived in the capital city. He feels inferior in this new urban environment, and feels humiliated by the city people. He then tries to become modern to fit in the city by joining a group of urban friends, wearing urban clothes and following other people’s lifestyles. This leads him to lose his innocence through experiences with drugs and street life, but in the process also loses his mentor and friends. His transformation from villager to urban man becomes increasingly difficult because trying to be modern takes him away to who he truly is. In the end he finds his own modernity and his place in the city.
